Fitness is Freedom
Fitness is having the ability to do what you want to do when you want to do it. This substack will teach you how to use exercise to enhance your quality of life and earn your freedom.
The return of All About Fitness
We all know that exercise is important, however many people don’t know the best exercise they should be doing, especially once they get over the age of 40 or 50.
I’ve been a personal trainer since 1998. I’ve been educating personal trainers since 2002. I’ve written countless blogs and articles, numerous textbook chapters, produced a podcast for 5 years and written 3 books; the reason for this content is to teach others how to use exercise to enhance their quality of life.
Yes, exercise can help you lose a few pounds and make your muscles look better, but more importantly, regular, consistent exercise, especially high-intensity exercise that leaves you huffing and puffing, can not only improve your quality of life, it can extend your lifespan. By years.
Improving your aerobic capacity will allow you to enjoy more years of your favorite activities. Adding more muscle and maintaining your strength is the best means for controlling how the aging process affects your body.
If you love being active and want to enjoy all of your favorite activities, exercise is the only way to make that happen and All About Fitness is here to teach you how.
Working out the morning I turned 50…
1. In 2021 I took a corporate gig and put content creating on the back burner.
Between 2018 and 2023, I wrote three books: Smarter Workouts, Ageless Intensity and Smarter Recovery, conducted more than 200 interviews for All About Fitness, wrote countless blogs, dozens of articles, a couple of text book chapters and a few continuing education courses. I needed a break from creating content and wanted to just focus on coaching other trainers for a health club company.
The fact is… I’m a creator, I love to create and share information to help others improve their lives. This is what I need to be doing. This is where I belong.
2. Exercise enhances ALL aspects of life.
Why do you exercise?
Most people will answer to look better or to be a certain weight, yes, those can be important, but the MOST POWERFUL thing about exercise is that it can impact all aspects of your life. Yes, exercise can help you look AMAZING, but it can also effect your brain and be a means of managing your mental health. Exercise can be an opportunity to do things with friends or family, it’s a chance to participate in fun, enjoyable activities. Exercise allows you to have better sex.
Yes, I said, exercise can be the means for improving your sex life.
